Central Standard Time

Central Standard Time (CST) is a time zone that is used in parts of Canada and the United States. It is 6 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and does not observe Daylight Saving Time. CST is also known as Central Time.

The countries that use the Central Standard Time zone include the Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and part of Nunavut, and the United States states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. These areas are located in the central part of North America, between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains. The largest cities in this time zone include Chicago, Dallas, and Houston.

During the summer months, many areas in the Central Standard Time zone observe Daylight Saving Time, which is also known as Central Daylight Time (CDT). During this time, the clock is set ahead by one hour, and the time becomes 5 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

The Central Standard Time zone is also used in some parts of Mexico, including the states of Campeche, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, and Yucatan, as well as the eastern part of the state of Nayarit. These areas are located in the eastern and southeastern parts of Mexico, near the border with the United States.
